It promised to be a grand affair. There were the top 12 of Malaysian Idol 1 on stage along with the top 9 of Season 2. The night started with a bang with the MI1 Idols jamming to 'Ku Bawa Sinar'and 'Gemilang'.
For 'Gemilang', Jac was the star, as was evident from the applause. Then Trish took the stage with a solid performance of 'Shackles', which immediately shook the crowd to its core. Ejay then rocked the house further with her theatre elimination song, 'Since You Been Gone'. Blue-head Xerra dropped the temperature with a heart-warming rendition of 'Brown Eyes'before Atilia took over the screaming six-thousand strong crowd with 'Natural Woman.'Towards the end of her powerful rendition, Trish, Xerra and Ejay joined her.
The boys were not to be outdone. Model-lookalike, Azam, and underdog, Adam dueted on 'Mentera Semerah Padi'. They were a match on stage, exhibiting showmanship skills that looked like it took years to sharpen instead of the three days the Idols really had to practise. Top 5 hottie, Ash emerged on stage after with a soulful and power-packed 'With Or Without You'that showed critics and fans alike why he epitomise 'Rock Orang Bandar'. Then Orang Kampung, Faizull thrilled with 'Peronda Jaket Biru'. It droved the audience wild - if that was still possible. Last of the eliminated Idol, beautiful Farah took over with Áin't No Mountain High Enough'. The whistling and cheering she received when she got on stage brought out the best in the KL lass. Finally the top 9 returned to the stage to sing with her. The MI1 finalists followed suit. That brought the crowd to ecstasy and the applause was just rousing. To prove their place in the final once again, Daniel and Nita came on stage to duet on 'Menanti Jawapan'and 'Higher Deeper'.
After the musical fiesta, Jien and Cheryl took over to announce the winner. It was a nerve-wrecking moment as no one, not even the judges, could predict who will win. Finally, the announcement came. It was Daniel with the highest votes. He had 1.2 million votes against Nita's 500 000 plus, or 68% of the total votes. So Daniel is the next Malaysian Idol. Congratulations!! #
