Yesterday. A Wesak as usual as any other year. The unusual thing is without YZ with us...who is having exam back in her U. Jin went volunteering at BISDS stall with her friends. For her Pendidikan Moral project of course, and even got a T-shirt in return for the work! (Ehh... I should have gone too, rite??!)
There was a huge lantern right outside the Asoka Hall. Unfortunately I do not know the story behind it...hehe...but it looks good anyway!
An attraction is the exhibition of Amarekha in the Asoka Hall, which is first brought out from Sri Lanka! It is composed of 34 wooden sculptures illustrating 26 mudras (postures) of the Buddha.
Just struck my mind that I forgot to take a look at the class projects. Wonder what became of my clay-man...
Wesak marks the day of birth of the Buddha, His Enlightment day, as well as the Parinibbana (death) of the Buddha. This is the day (probably the ONLY day) that the Buddhist Maha Vihara is flooded with people. Many Buddhists (including once-a-year Buddhists) as well as non-Buddhists (some Indians, I believe) flock in, a huge portion aiming for the vegetarian lunch. Yet, a 'very usual thing'.
On this day, i expect a lot of peace and joy. Yet on the other end of the world, we heard of demonstrations and fights, 'in conjunction' of Labour's Day.
Anyway, Happy Wesak and Happy Labour's day!
